PhotosPublish, our add-on for Adobe Lightroom Classic, works entirely on your Mac. It moves photos between Lightroom Classic and Apple's Photos app on that Mac, and sends nothing to us or anyone else.

What PhotosPublish reads
- Your Lightroom Classic catalog: the photos in the collections you publish, their edits (to know when a photo changed), keywords, titles, captions, Pick flag, location, capture time and file names.
- Your Photos library, through Apple's official interfaces and only with the permission you give the PhotosPublish Helper app: the photos PhotosPublish added (their albums, Favorite, location, keywords, titles and captions), and — only when you run the one-time migration — the file names, dates and edit status of the other photos in the library, to find your earlier exports.
What PhotosPublish writes
- Your Photos library, when you click Publish: the photos and videos it exports, its albums in the folder you chose, and their keywords, titles, captions, Favorite and location. The migration deletes earlier copies only after you confirm (they go to Recently Deleted).
- Your Lightroom Classic catalog: keywords, titles, captions and the Pick flag changed in Photos, and hidden fields linking each photo to its copy in Photos.
- On your Mac: Lightroom Classic's plug-in settings; a list of the photos PhotosPublish manages, in ~/Library/Application Support/PhotosPublish (so different Lightroom catalogs don't touch each other's photos); a log in ~/Library/Logs/Adobe/Lightroom/LrClassicLogs; and temporary export files, deleted after each publish.
What leaves your Mac
Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. PhotosPublish has no accounts, analytics, tracking or telemetry, and makes no network requests of its own. With iCloud Photos on, Apple's Photos app syncs your library with your iCloud account as it does for any photo: it uploads the photos PhotosPublish adds, and, when PhotosPublish updates a photo whose original is only in iCloud (“Optimize Mac Storage”), Photos downloads that original first. That traffic is between your Mac and your iCloud account, under Apple's privacy policy. Links to this website open in your browser only when you click them.
Purchases
PhotosPublish is sold through Adobe Exchange. Payment and purchase records are handled by Adobe and its payment provider under their privacy policies; we receive the sales information they share with publishers.
